4130 lost its roof after missing its turning on a 31 service. After trying to correct itself via a garage forecourt that was too low, here are the results. Ouch!

6990 did a tour of former LUT routes on the 12 November 2006. I was supposed to get up early and follow it on various services but a delayed flight back into Liverpool the night before and oversleeping prevented the morning leg. Here's a selection on the 32, some at Mossley Common and the rest at Atherton

GM South started operations on the Wirral using Fleetlines transfered in from Princess Rd Depot using a livery not unlike the old Birkenhead Corporation colours. Later Atlanteans were used in Liverpool but retaining GMS orange livery.

 | 21st Jan 2006 | Ex GMT Vehicles
Some 400+ buses were disposed of at de-regulation in 1986 and many filtered through the second hand market to continue working for other operators throughout the country. Also First moved buses between fleets especially Yorkshire Rider and a selection are shown here.

Lancashire United was fully absorbed by GMT in 1981 and its buses were gradually repainted into GMT livery. These views show the changeover point when the LUT standards lost orange and white LUT style for corporate GMT colours.

First painted three Olympians into Heritage livery, these being Salford,Wigan and Bolton corporations. With the hope of more to follow none came to fruition although South Lancs did do a Leigh Corporation decker albeit without fleetnames. All firsts are now withdrawn though the SLT survives and is shown here for reference. 8573 is also shown as it was put back into orange/brown to celebrate the Leyland Atlantean.

GM Buses North started the aquisition trail with Citibus of Chadderton in 1995. Although some vehicles were repainted into fleet colours the vast majority were withdrawn within months and stored in the old Atherton works until dispatched to the Barnsley breakers.

GMN set up an operating base in Liverpool with a depot in Bootle using standards re aquired from Yorkshire Rider. Secondhand MCW minis operated in Southport under the Lancashire Gem brand from the same base.

At privatisation GM South aquired 22 elderly Leyland Nationals from various sources to refurbish, though the Stagecoach takeover ended the program. GM North came to an operating agreement with MTL and brought National 2s into the fleet for the first time.

Covers the formation of the new PTE up until the end of an era at D-regulation. A number of buses carried the new GM Buses fleetnames for the new company that took over from GMT on the 26 October 1986 buit never actually ran for them,such was the way that buses were treated to the new names.

All vehicles purchased for evaluation were numbered in the 14xx series pending further orders if any. The most notable being Olympian 1451 which led to a total of 305 being delivered between 1982 - 1988. Flops included the three Dennis Falcons which struggled to get out of the depot under their own power!
